A Guide to Teaching Children about Balance and Harmony
Introduction
Family As parents, guardians, and caregivers, we hold the responsibility of shaping the values and perspectives our children carry into adulthood. In a world where discussions about seksuality often focus on the physical, teaching children about seksuality within the framework of Maat offers an opportunity to instill deeper understanding, empathy, and harmony in their approach to relationships and intimacy.
This article provides a guide on how to introduce the principles of Maat to children, nurturing a healthy, balanced perspective on seksuality.
ALRIGHT, OK LET ME BEGIN!:
Age-Appropriate Conversations
Tailor your discussions about Maatian seksuality to your child's age and level of understanding. Start with simple concepts and gradually introduce more complex ideas as they grow. Remember SEKS is an the emotional game of harmony between masculine & feminine , well when you look at it from this perspective it opens you up to a much broader pallette of talking points, with my daughter we talk alot about natures harmonious relationship, and any emotion we feel i tend to find references in nature to use as talking points. This is especially helpful when trying to get away from your own trauma or biases when it comes to relationships.
Foundation of Balance
Explain the concept of balance as a central theme in Maatian seksuality. Help children understand that just as day balances with night and the sun with the moon, our relationships should also be founded on mutual respect and harmony.
Respecting Differences
Teach children that everyone has unique qualities that make them special. Emphasize that these differences should be embraced and respected, contributing to the overall balance and beauty of the world.
Gender Awareness
Help children to become aware of gender beyond 'things for boys' and 'things for girls'. Introduce them to the idea that all individuals have a combination of masculine and feminine qualities, and that these qualities show and express themselves differently in everyone, this should be valued equally. Again using nature as a guide start to help them understand the different values of masculinity and femininity and how they themselves uniquely express it.
Boundaries and Consent
Teach children about personal boundaries and the importance of asking for and respecting consent. Help them understand that boundaries help maintain a sense of balance and safety in relating with people. This includes allowing them to speak up for themselves when someone has wronged them or when they feel an injustice has taken place even if that person is you.
Love and Empathy
Discuss love as a powerful force that contributes to harmony and unity. Remind them that Love is about what you give to yourself through your service to others.
Encourage children to show empathy towards others and appreciate the different ways people express their love service.
Natural Connections
Help children connect with nature as a way to understand the balance present in the world. Spend time outdoors and discuss how the cycles of nature mirror the principles of Maat. This is a great way to deepen wisdom of the masculine and feminine relationship without talking directly about men and women
Open Communication
Create an environment where children feel comfortable discussing their feelings and questions about relationships and intimacy. Be open to answering their queries honestly and without judgment. This includes not judging yourself for what you don't know or are still unsure about. If you meet a personal block from the child's questions use it as a joint opportunity to discover more about the topic at hand and instead of posing as a teacher be an eager student and seeker of knowledge alongside your child.
Media Literacy
Guide children in navigating media portrayals of relationships and seksuality. Encourage critical thinking by discussing how media can sometimes distort the true essence of balance and harmony. Reason with them on everything!
Modeling Maatian Values
Lead by example. Demonstrate the principles of Maat in your own relationships and interactions, showing children how to live in alignment with these values.
Conclusion
Teaching children about Maat is an opportunity to guide them towards a deeper understanding of relationships, intimacy, and balance. By fostering open conversations, embracing differences, and modeling harmonious behaviors, we can equip our children with the tools to approach their own relationships with empathy, respect, and authenticity.
